Friday night July 2, 2010 the “Original Pizza Logs” 600 Sprint Tour saw 30 cars enter the pits at Black Rock Speedway. When the night was over it was Matt Smith in victory circle. We would like to thank everyone for another great fun filled night of racing. Thanks to all our officials, drivers and fans.
Heat #1 saw Alysha Ruggles in her Ruggles World of Auto Body car start from the pole and hold off the challenges of Nick Cooper in his Honeoye Auto Parts car. Following them across the finish line were AJ Bogino, Steve Doell, Colton Wilson, Mike Foster, Shannon Doran, Jim Lafler, Kirsten Dombroski, and John Smith.
Heat #2 saw Matt Smith take the checkers followed by Tyler Walker but the real battle was for the final 4 qualifying spots and when the checkers flew it was Darryl Ruggles, Ben Kysor, Steven Fonte and Mark Schenck taking the final spots. Eric Wise, Matt Jones, Gregg Kysor and Dan Naegele would all have to run the B-Mailn.
Heat #2 saw David Ferguson in his AT&T/Speedy Cleaner car starting 6th and winning his heat. Following him across the finish line was Jim Radney who started 9th and tried running down Ferguson but was not able to catch him. Kevin Carlson, Chris Seely, Domminic Fuller, Ryan Ellis, Frank Jarkiewicz, Matt Farnham, Gary Drum, and Keith Heater would follow them across the finish line.
B-Main action would see Eic Wise and Frank Jarkiewicz bringing the field to the green to see who would take the final 6 qualifying spots. In the end it would be Eric Wise winning the B-main followed by Jim Lafler, Greg Kysor, Matt Jones, Gary Drum and Dan Naegele taking the final spota. DNQ: Kirsten Dombroski, Keith Heater, Frank Jarkiewicz, Matt Farnham, John Smith and Shannon Doran. Kirsten Dombroski who was the bubble car would be able to start the A-main as Mark Schenck would not be able to take the green.
Alysha Ruggles and Matt Smith would lead the 24 car starting field to the green flag. When the flag flew it was Alsysha Ruggles leading the first lap. The race was red flag on lap one when Radney was hit from behind and spun in front of the field. Several cars including Radney were done for the night. When the green flag flew again it was Matt Smith taking the lead from Alysha Ruggles. It looked like Matt Smith would not be challenged but Nick Cooper had other ideas. He pressured Smith for the last five laps but just did not have enough to get by. In the end it was Matt Smith in victory lane followed by Nick Cooper, Alysha Ruggles, Tyler Walker, AJ Bogino, Darryl Ruggles, Steve Doell, Kevin Carlson, Steven Fonte, Ben Kysor, Colton Wilson, Gary Drum, Jim Lafler, Mike Foster, Dan Naegele, Matt Jones, Ryan Ellis, Eric Wise, Kirsten Dombroski, Dominic Fuller Chris Seely, David Ferguson, Gregg Kysor and Jim Radney.
